Training in combative performance until perfection! That’s training with the amazing Shawn Baichoo!! Take a look!!
Weekend Intensive (Saturday and Sunday)
Dates TBA (sometime this August 2026)
Join a seasoned professional in on-screen combat, for an intensive weekend workshop designed to elevate your action performance skills. ***This is not a course to become a stuntman/stuntwoman. It’s a course strictly for actors wanting to have combat skills as a considerable asset when applying for speaking roles in action and combat sequences.
It’s a fact: Action and combative scenes dominate the film and television market.
Many Canadian actors, even American stars, as well as roles further down the call sheet, may not do their own stunts, but they definitely do combat and perform fight scenes!! And that takes combative skills!!
In a casting perspective, when looking for actors that will be involved in action sequences, having combat training on your resume definitely sticks out!
And why wouldn’t you want that edge?! As an actor, performing combative scenes, even if the simplest of actions (such as being pressed against the wall by an opponent), boosts your visibility in the market, and bonus: it’s wicked fun!! In video game castings, motion capture alone… the opportunities are wealthy!
Participants will safely learn the art of performing believable combat, be exciting to watch, and become eligible to be cast on so many films and shows!
This workshop is specifically tailored for actors looking to expand their range into the realm of on-screen combat.
Key Features:
Safety First: Emphasize the importance of safety on set, including how to execute moves that look impactful on screen yet remain safe for all performers.
Techniques covered: Combat Terminology, Foot stomp, Hold your scene partner back from fighting, Grabbing your scene partner while in conflict, Fainting from shock, and more
Fighting moments: Hair Pulls, Choking, Collisions Punching (Jab, Straight, Cross, Hook, Uppercut), Slapping and more
Physical Storytelling: Explore how physicality contributes to storytelling in action scenes, focusing on body movement, timing, and reaction.
Transform your on-screen presence and become proficient in the art of screen fighting. Join us for a weekend dedicated to high-intensity training, creativity, and the mastery of on-screen combat techniques.
