Acting for the camera is a skill of its own. This advanced on-camera course will provide you with vital information a professional actor needs when working on camera, from the point of view of a Director of Photography and lead cameraman.

Local Cameraman Alexandre Perrotin will inform you on the technical side of filmmaking from the perspective of the camera operator and provide you with advice on how to adapt to a scene and tailor your performance specifically on how it’s being shot, while remaining believable. Alexandre will give you the language and techniques used on set, which are required skills that any professional actor needs to acquire. This workshop is designed for participants to actively focus on blocking a scene with movement, hitting your mark, while performing.

In this course we will be discussing:

  • Lenses and how the actor is seen in the frame.

  • Framing: the various type of shots.

  • The Traveling Shot: actors in movement.

  • Axis and eyelines.

  • Hitting your light.

  • Hitting your marks.

  • Communications with Camera Crew: instructional terminology you need to know.

  • Tips on harmoniously performing with blocking and movement.

  • Staying open to the camera.

Prerequisite: All workshops are considered advanced courses (recommended for students Level 2+).

Workshops are sold separately, and are for students 13+.
