A high-energy, no-judgment, karaoke-style workshop where actors — and all Calgarians who sing in the car or the shower 😊 — learn the basics of singing through fan chants and karaoke-style play.
The Karaoke Lab is more than a karaoke night. It’s a fun, uplifting, pressure-free vocal workshop designed for actors and anyone who wants to come out and sing without fear. At the same time, it serves as a springboard for those who have always wanted to step into the world of singing and finally learn how to use their voice.
Working as a group and using familiar fan chants (for example, “We Will Rock You” by Queen), participants explore the fundamentals of singing in a natural, safe, and supportive environment. Coaching is woven into the experience — without critique or intimidation. The result is a session that’s playful, energizing, confidence-building, and surprisingly educational.No experience required. Just show up and sing!

BIO: Montreal-born vocalist and songwriter, Julie Carr, began her musical journey at just four years old behind the piano. By age nine she was already creating original songs- a spark that eventually led to a professional career featuring credits on five manufactured albums as both a lead vocalist and lyricist and currently signed to NLD Industries.
After years of navigating the technical and creative demands of the recording industry, Julie has shifted her focus to her true passion: empowering the next generation of talent. Known for a teaching style that blends industry-proven vocal techniques with the foundational art of Songwriting. Julie provides the professional insight and supportive environment needed to turn your voice into a masterpiece!
